KUMARAKOM ROUND BACKWATER ROUTES

Kumarakom is a favorite backwater holiday destination of dignitaries & celebrities. The moment we cast off from jetty our houseboat will pass the exteriors of the Kumarakom bird sanctuary on left and reach Cheepunkal Lake View park at the tip of land and eventually enters into the mighty Vembanad lake and Proceeds to Pathiramanal which means " sands of Night" where fishermen used to rest in night fishing times, The scenic beauty of both sides of the lake as well as that of island is awe-inspiring and is home to migratory birds from Siberia during winter. We then houseboat moves further east & steer pass the Kayipuram & Puthenagadi areas were you may find artistically built resorts bordering the backwaters. Then we would slowly move on to Kannakara where you may found abundant of Chinese fishing nets. Further we head to Thannermukkom Bund Salt water Barrier to help paddy farmers of Kuttanad region to prevent tidal action and intrusion of salt water. The bund bifurificate lake into fresh water one and other saline one on north. At 1600 hrs we will again assemble for tea/coffee with hot sweet banana fritters or finger chips to merry your gastronomical exigency in case of day cruise. Slowly our houseboat takes diversion to see the Chinese fishing nets on Vechoor, the Church view point and slowly proceeds along the banks of river Kaipuzha witnessing the calm village life, then pass along side Philipkutty;s Farm house and through rustic backwater area returns to the Kavanar mouth and reaches the Santhappans and will berth there. Berthing helps you to get great views of the sunset; you can also get a chance to go out and walk along the riverside or villages and come back. In the evening Enjoy your Dinner and leave all world behind you and have a good sleep in your floating paradise. In morning you will be waked up the crisping voices of birds & fishermen’s oars falling on backwaters. Get up and enjoy the sunrise and breath pollution free air. Further cruise starts for an hour and will return to jetty through the amazing routes. On reaching jetty you will leave the houseboat with an everlasting beautiful memory.
